Suggestions For Motivating Obedience In Your Dog
The purpose of obedience training is to condition your dog to behave in a manner that is consistent with your lifestyle and desired household environment. No dog will be perfect upon adoption, and unfortunately, they don't come with an instruction manual! But proper training, patience, and love will ensure you and your dog live happily together.

A bad mood is not conducive to effective dog training and your why does my dog bark at other dogs will be able to feel your tension and stress and react to that and not your commands. If you are in a bad mood, postpone any dog training for another day.
Initially you may think that the method is not working at all. However, as is the case with so many things, just be persistent and keep at it until you begin to see the result that makes your efforts worthwhile. Keep each training session brief, and be prepared for it to take several weeks to reach your goal. You should find that it becomes easier as time passes and your dog grows used to his regular training.
Perhaps you have seen the show "It's Me or the Dog". This is a program that demonstrates in real life what can happen when a dog has not been sent to dog obedience School. The lessons learned can help your family avoid the feeling that the dog has taken over the house and make sure you stay in charge.
It's important to remember that the dogs are in a stressful situation, so don't assume that a dog's initial shyness means it won't come around to you in time. On the other hand, pay close attention to signs that the dog may have some deeply rooted emotional problems, like aggression, fear, or anxiety. Try to find a dog that seems even-tempered and balanced. Avoid one that is extremely shy or introverted or that is highly reactive or startles easily.
If your dog is alerting you to something, teach it that once you have checked out the situation and you have indicated that everything is ok; your dog must stop barking. My reactive dogs have learned that I want them to alert me to things on the property or that could pose a threat. As soon as I have checked it out and indicated everything is ok, my dog does not need to alert me anymore.
Other opportunities available for going to a training class is that your instructor can correct problems that he can see you make. Without an instructor around, it will may take longer to realize you are even making a mistake.
Tip: I have found that movies, or sequential narratives, help with training. For example, I've used them with scent tracking dogs who lose the scent in certain situations. Showing them How to stop dog from barking to backtrack and pick up the scent trail is sometimes all it takes to help them through a difficult training hurdle.
Your voice plays a very important role in your dog obedience training. Your voice will be the most indispensable tool in training. That is why you need to be very firm of your voice. Having said that, you need to let your dog feel that you care and show some compassion with your voice. Do not be aggressive in any way or else your dog might be challenged.
